Op: Savage Garden... Final Countdown
Tomorrow is the big day. Go check out the BlackRain7 website for the latest details on how to be part of THE biggest airsoft game in North America (and to win some awesome prizes from Killer Studios, MFI, BlackRain7, etc.). Don't miss this!
Yes, my CyberAUG will be there, as I promised JetLegend and BlackFox... However, my Bushnell HoloSight was already committed to a photo-shoot: you'll all get to see it in a major print magazine hitting the national newstands soon. I'm making sure that airsoft is getting big-time coverage! Stay tuned!

The Search for Green Line
Asia Pacific sent this plea:
Quote:I would like to request the publics help in finding Green Line industries so that we may assist and help them with their hearing also we would like a chance to address some of the concerns we have as to why Airsoft should be legal and how the new law should not affect the importation of airsoft. I would also like to suggest to anybody who has had a seizure to bring it to my attention now so that you may also get a chance to present your arguments to the hearing. I would also like to suggest that we have a heavily debated discussion on the Airsoft issue i will try and bring the CFC's and Canada Customs views as to why the Airsoft should be prohibited and then we can have a chance to prepare a rebuttal. I hope that all of you can participate in this and give some feed back because it will be our final chance to argue our point or Airsoft will be banned once and for all in Canada!
Canadian Tribunal!
Asia Pacific sent this:
Quote:Okay every one i have just got a response from Customs saying that the first appeal was denied and is scheduled for hearing in Ottawa before a CITT tribunal on the 22nd of November 99!
This means Green Line the person who is appealing has a chance to voice his opinion as to why the Airsoft guns should not be classified as a prohibited device! Anyone who has a current appeal regarding airsoft can make a petition for there case to be heard too at the same time . I was also guaranteed if we win the case then it will set a precedent which will legalize Airsoft once and for all if we lose than thats it!
To find out more about the CITT there websight is at WWW.CITT.GC.CA
Unique Products from MFI
During my ridiculous travel schedule, I managed to squeeze in the opportunity to examine some unique accessories from MFI.
MFI's Custom Rail System (CRS) was designed to provide the same functionality as the well-known Knights Armament Corporation (KAC) Rail Interface System (RIS), but without the need for extensive modifications to the host gun.
The rail itself consists of an approximately 6"x1" strip of precision-machined 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum with a flat-black anodized finish. Michael Frost said that he originally designed it for use on the real steel CAR shorty. However, the adaptibility of the design allows this rail system to be used just as easily on many of the Colts, including the M16A2, M4A1, and XM-177e2. The MFI rail system also works on the HK MP5!
Unlike the actual KAC RIS or its clones, the MFI custom lower rail system installs in a snap. The MFI CRS uses the vent holes underneath the handguard for the Tokyo Marui M16A2, M4A1, and XM-177e2. In fact, it nestles perfectly and solidly into the ribbed slot of the handguard. Only a slight, easily-done modification to the vent holes is required to allow the two attachment screws to fit flush inside the handguard -- MFI performs this modification automatically free of charge on all the Tokyo Marui M16A2, M4A1, and XM-177e2 models it ships, and will do it upon request for the Tokyo Marui MP5 models it ships.
Another difference between the MFI and KAC designs is that the MFI CRS has a groove running the full length of the rail allowing a KAC or similar vertical foregrip to be positioned anywhere along the rail. The KAC RIS has notches that limit the full deployment of the locking pin, which in turn limits the number of available grip positions along the length of the rail.
MFI CRS "uppers" are shorter 1" and 1.5" strips that attach to the upper handguard and provide attachment points for lasers, torchlights, and other accessories. Installation of the uppers typically requires some easily-done tapping and drilling of the upper handguard -- MFI performs this modification free of charge on the AEGs that it ships. A dab of epoxy creates a rock-solid mount for whatever you decide to attach.
According to Michael Frost of MFI, the custom rail system was originally designed for real steel, and can be easily (and safely) deployed on your real steel guns if you so choose. Apparantly, several law enforcement agencies are using these now. Keep in mind that the KAC RIS clones from Mosquito Molds (and soon Tokyo Marui) are intended for airsoft only, and should never be used on actual firearms. If you are interested only in "the look," then you will want the KAC RIS and its clones. However, if simplicity of design, ease of installation, and extended range of functionality are what you desire, then consider the MFI custom rail system seriously.
MFI also offers the TACM III torchlight with either a 6 " or 8" cable to a silent 2" pressure switchpad. The TACM III is built by a military contractor. This torchlight consists of a Delrin polycarbonate shell on a metal chassis, which Michael Frost claims is tough enough to withstand hammer blows! The TACM III israted at 10,000 candlepower. Compare that to the Tokyo Marui's at 1800, or the mini MagLite at 2000, or even the SureFire at 6500! It's highly water-resistant, and is in use by several law enforcement agencies.
For those of you who want functional optics without paying Tokyo Marui premiums, be sure to check out the clone Colt AR 3x20 scope that MFI offers. According to Michael Frost, it's not just a replica, it's identical! Irregardless, like the Tokyo Marui version, the scope seems sturdily constructed, and mounts quickly into/onto the Colt's carry handle. There are three functional differences between the clone and Tokyo Marui versions. The clone's 3x magnification (versus the Tokyo Marui's 4x) is more appropriate for airsoft. Heck, I personally prefer 2x max... and that's if I even bother with a scope! The scope includes yellow-tinted see-through lenses covers, instead of the flip-up covers on the Tokyo Marui. Lastly, the Tokyo Marui sits slightly higher on the carry handle allowing for a better sight picture when resorting to the iron sights.
MFI also offers clone batteries and chargers. The batteries are manufactured by Cadnica under license from Tokyo Marui, and use the same Sanyo cells and outer case design. The only discernible difference is that the outer case material is a darker color. The chargers are manufactured in Korea, and are distinguished from Tokyo Marui's by what Michael Frost terms "the bipolar plug," which allows easy use with a variety of electrical adapters.
