![]() CAR-15 (Kokusai)
by MattI just happen to be in a buying mood over the weekend, because the Coksai CAR-15 really caught my eye. I saw the ads in Combat magazine, but they didn't seem too impressive. At 32,000 yen I was thinking this is either a shit hot weapon, or an expensive wall hanger. The first thing that really impressed me after I got it home was the sheer weight of this compact gun. It's no longer than my PDW fully extended, but three times the weight. There is a lot metal, and the plastic is is of extremely high quality. A true thing of beauty and exquisite craftsmenship. The other thing that stood out was the "Magna Barrel". I had no idea what the hell that was. It was pretty obvious when I peered down the barrel. For those who don't know, it's deep grooves in the barrel, like rifling, but without the twist. The idea is to keep the bb from twisting and turning as it travels down the 'ole tube. The third was that the magazine lacked a spring. This made speed loading a snap. There is an air fitting on the top of the clip that goes into the gun in the magazine well that uses air pressure to force the bbs into the chamber. After I gassed it up, I had to see if it'd shoot as good as it looked. With the mag loaded with 50 rounds, I took aim at some random targets in the driveway and let it rip. I took out soda cans, some dixie cups, and dented the hell out of my license plate. This sombitch packs some power, but at a price. The word gass guzzler is about par. I don't think I ever went through a can of gas so quickly on just one gun. The fully functional A2 sights are dead on, scoring hit after hit. Not only does this fella have an internal tank, but comes rigged for an external gas supply. I hooked up my double can system (one full, one empty) and then a really big smile came to my face. I tore the hell out of my place and littered up the driveway and yard with busted up bbs. JAC's, look out because here's your replacement. I haven't seen this much raw power in anything outside of souped up paintball. I don't have a chrono, but the bbs were humming out of the business end tearing up everything. I can only imagine what the effects would be with a good external system, and this is the perfect reason to invest in one. Yes, I am really impressed. I haven't taken the CAR-15 into battle yet, but hopefully this week and see how it does under combat. The only hinderence would be the weight, but if you want realism, here's where you'll find it. The only thing I see that it's lacking is a hop up system. I would like it to have a more flat trajectory to make use of all the energy. Well, that's about it for now. Looking foward to "tearing it up." Sniper
