![]() SIG-Sauer P228 Hop-Up (Tokyo Marui)
by Andy, Team UCDAt first glance the gun looked very realistic like most Airsoft guns. I should mention that it's a used gun but has been very well taken care of. I started to examine the gun and noticed the slide didn't fit snug on the barrel and also the barrel wasn't centered on the slide. In a way I wasen't too impressed but figured I'd give the gun a chance I mean it is an Airsoft gun. I deceided I should clean the gun out before I use it. I ran a couple patches in and they quickly came out clean. I setup my trap in the basement and the biggest distance I could get was a bit over 15 feet. I lined up the sights and couldn't pull the trigger. The safety on the P228 is a lever that goes up to the safe position and down for fire. it's located at the top of the handguard. A spring keeps the tension upwards. A small plastic bulb is used to stop it from going into safe. It got worn down with time which leaves the safety on. I held the gun in a way so that my thumb on my left hand holds down the safety mechanism into the fire position. The first shot went about 1 inch above center. I fired 3 more shots which all went approximately 1 inch above center creating a 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch grouping at 15 feet. The 5th shot went approximately 5 inches up and 1 inch to the left. I had problems holding down the safety while firing and rushed my shot. I decided to open the handguard and removed the safety. I flipped the target upside down and fired a couple more shots. Each hitting the target approximately 1 inch above center in the same size grouping. My overall impression of the gun is that it's well balanced, feels good when firing. It's accurate at 15 feet, I wish I could have tested it on a longer range, the sights I assume are adjusted for firing at a longer distance. The only drawback is the safety mechanism. It needs to be redesigned.
