$2 Tracer Unit for M-60 airsoft
by SamThe M-60 is pretty cool although I have to say the plastic used is that thin glossy type that's not up to Mauri's standards. I'll have to write up a review but I find a lot of your other reviews are so technical that I can't compare. I haven't a clue about fps and have no idea how to measure it for example. I figure that the best I can give you is a write up on it's authenticity to the real gun since I have shot them before. I figure that you'd have to test the M-60 yourself for the technical write-up! The tracer unit is the coolest part. The muzzle screws off and on, so I immediately started looking to see if any of the Mauri adapters fit. None did so I fiddled around trying to think of what to do, when it hit me. I should have thought of it sooner. All the tracer unit does it illuminate the ammo, so I took a cheap $2 Brinkman AAA flashlight and flicked it on and stuck it in the hopper. The flashlight is small enough to fit with the lid close and the light seemed to aim into the feed mechanism just perfectly without the problem of interfering with any moving parts. The ammo was "energized" constantly and in the area right in front of the feed mech. I tested it last night and it seemed to work just fine. One problem is that there's a tube which is leads from the hopper to the barrel. If you have ammo in this tube, then it is not lit up. The illuminated ammo shows up when you shoot all these out and the ammo in the hopper starts going into the tube. But if you pause for a long time, the ammo starts to loose it's brightness. I guess you have to continuously shoot! I'm looking into using a Maglite which would be brighter. I'm also thinking about using some kind of clear tubing so that the light can enter and energize the ammo that's already in the feed mech.
